ControlPoint uses the Enterprise IDOL Engine to index the data in its nominated repositories. RM Federated Search leverages ControlPoint. ControlPoint itself assists organisations to achieve business outcomes via analysis and management of dark and unstructured data, achieving efficiencies in search and discovery, savings in storage and discovery costs, and a significant decrease in compliance and security risk. It connects to a variety of Enterprise Information repositories (Network Drive, SharePoint, Exchange and Content Manager are available by default), and then provides the following functional benefits:
ControlPoint analyses, indexes and categorises organisational data stored in nominated repositories, including identifying security related information such as credit card numbers, TFNs and passwords. Once data has been analysed and categorised, it can determine data that is duplicated, redundant, obsolete or trivial in these repositories. ControlPoint then offers In Place Records Management via policies to achieve compliance. These policies monitor data and trigger actions such as: migration of data into Content Manager, controlled deletion of data, setting a record sentence on data in place, or moving data to lower cost storage. ControlPoint ensures organisational compliance policies apply to information regardless of their location, consistently managing information across the enterprise, all from a single dashboard interface.
